December, 2009                                                                                                          Issue # 14

Dear Friends,

As 2009 is about to end soon, we hope you've enjoyed reading the news and updates from Jatson Chumig throughout this past year. It's difficult to report on any "New News" simply because Tibet is not exactly right around the corner, so we've been relying on emails for updates. What we can tell you is that the kids are busy attending classes, they are hunkered down for the long winter months and best of all, everyone is healthy and safe! Tenzin.Dolkar

This edition focuses on a fastastic night in Alaska, our Matching Challenge and a unique way to give Holiday Cards and help Jatson Chumig.

We hope to have new photos and stories in our next issue as a return visit to Lhasa is planned. For now please know that Jampa, Tenzin and all the kids send you their best and thank you for helping to support Jatson Chumig.

Sincerely,

Brian McClatchy
An Evening in Tibet ... Alaska style

Many thanks to Julie LeMay, her many Volunteers and Lorie Koppenburg from Vagabond Blues, who hosted An Evening in Tibet. The night was a fundraiser to benefit Jatson Chumig School & Orphanage. Vagabond Blues is a coffee shop located in Palmer, Alaska ~ USA.

Julie at Vagabond BluesJulie, who also serves on the Board of the Jatson Chumig Educational Corporation, did a fabulous job in converting the coffee house in Alaska into Little Lhasa for a night.

Julie has visited Jatson Chumig twice to volunteer and the towns of Palmer, Wasilla and Anchorage, Alaska came out to support her and her efforts in helping Jatson Chumig.

We hope you'll want to read Julie's story about An Evening in Tibet, Alaskan Style!

Challenge Update

We are 2/3 the way into our three month Matching Challenge.
[60 days down, 30 days to go] ... We can do this, we can generate an extra $25,000!

No one Poor!

Status Update: (Figures below are current as of 11:00 EST on 01-DEC-09)
With the tremendous success of Alaska's fundraiser, An Evening in Tibet, we now have gifts and/or pledges which equal $_$9,730  and this has been matched for $_$9,840 . There is still $15,160 available to Jatson Chumig ...but... we have to earn it through YOUR DONATIONS.

Our anonymous matching donor has said to me, "Brian, we really do want to help, but feel that you've got to have sustainable success from a broader base in order to reach your goal of helping to rebuild Jatson Chumig. We're happy to give, but want others to help as well. By reaching more people & having a greater support base, you're sure to succeed."

Challenge MatchThey are correct! This is not a one-man show or a few people making this a success, it's a group effort and you are a part of this very important group of people. Making a donation is not so much a sacrifice as it is a transfer. A transfer of goodness from one to another. We all have something to give, and now it's time. The question one has to ask themself is; Does my donation truly make a difference? We can stand eye-to-eye and answer, Yes!

Please consider Jatson Chumig when preparing to make your end-of-year charitable donation.  We know the economy is tough, and because of that we ask you to consider the easiest of all donations, the monthly pledge. Our website is setup Option # 2, to receive gifts as low as $5, $10 and $25 per month. It is even possible to join the Sponsor-a-Student Program by clicking Option # 3 which sets up a $50/month payment to sponsor a student for a full year.

This is the final newsletter of 2009 and I know I am beating the drum pretty hard here but there are only so many charitable gifts one can make before year-end. This is the time when you are asked to give. We want you to know that we need your support. Remember our added incentive, all donations, up to $25,000 are matched 100% till year-end.

Your challenge awaits you ... click here.
